Embark on a week-long adventure up and around the tip of the mitten! Departing from Alpena and passing through Mackinaw City on the way to Traverse City, you’ll get the best of two Great Lakes as Shoreline 2024 takes you along the coasts of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Peaceful waters, solitary lighthouses, quiet forests and beaches, and plenty of fudge await you on a bicycling tour of northern Michigan’s finest jewels.

Member Registration Opens - January 2
At 12:00 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2024, member registration and pricing opens to our LMB members only. Please check your membership staus and make sure you are a current member to gain access to this special pricing and early event registration. Member pricing is only available until 11:59 a.m. on Jan. 17.
Non-Member Registration Opens - January 17
Member pricing ends at 11:59 a.m. on this day and standard pricing goes into effect. Public registration opens to everyone on Jan. 17, 2024 at noon.
Included Jersey Deadline - June 3
Your rider gift this year is an included jersey: your choice of a 3-pocket, full zip, short sleeve jersey; a long sleeve MTB jersey; or a short sleeve tech shirt! Pick one during registration or click “no thanks” if you do not want the gift. June 7 is the deadline to register to ensure a jersey of your choice will be ready for you at check-in.
Registration Closes - July 3
Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 3. We shut registration down so we can place final orders and get final numbers to all of our vendors. To ensure fairness, we cannot grant exceptions.
Pre Tour Bus Bike Loading - August 2, TIME TBD
If you are a 7 day rider using the pre tour bus we will be loading bikes the night before (on Aug 2) and the morning of (Aug 3) in Traverse City. The loaded bikes will be deliverd to Pre Tour bus riders upon your arrival in Alpena. SEE RIDERS GUIDE FOR EXACT TIMES
Pre Tour Bus, Rider Check In and Pre Rides - August 3
The folks who have the pre tour bus will depart Traverse City around 10 am to head to Alepna. Both bus riders and folks who got to Alepna by their own means can hang out in Alpena’s peaceful downtown, visit the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, kayak the Thunder Bay River, or take your bike out on one of several unsupported routes based on our Sunrise Adventure tour in the 20-60 mile range. Registration will be from 1 to 4 pm. SEE RIDERS GUIDE FOR EXACT TIMES
Alpena to Rogers City - Aug. 4
Passing by the stately Presque Isle lighthouses and riding through Thompson Harbor State Park, you’ll end up in Rogers City with plenty of time to search the beach for Petoskey stones.
PLEASE NOTE: Padres tent service will not be available on the night of Saturday Aug. 10, 2024 for the Shoreline Party. Please make accommodations, bring a tent or hammock for that night.
Rogers City to Cheboygan - Aug 5
The route continues past Black Lake and Black Mountain before arriving in the historic town that straddles the Cheboygan River. Check out downtown Main Street and Water Street areas and visit a 100-foot mural in Washington Park.
Cheboygan to Mackinaw City - Aug 6
The North Central State Trail takes you on a short, straight shot up the coast with views of Bois Blanc Island on the way to Mackinaw City, where you can catch a ferry to Mackinac Island or explore the area.
Mackinaw City (layover) 3 Day joins - Aug 7
For your mid-week rest day, take a ferry to Mackinac Island for a leisurely car-free ride around the island (note: e-bikes not allowed) or check out one of the optional routes to nearby destinations. We will also add in our 3 day riding friends to finish the journey with us.
Mackinaw City to Charlevoix - Aug 8
Get back in the saddle for a long haul down the Lake Michigan coast, past Cross Village, through the Tunnel of Trees, and alongside the quaint downtowns of Harbor Springs and Petoskey before reaching the beaches of Charlevoix.
Charlevoix to Traverse City - Aug 9
Gorgeous farm country and Torch Lake await you on the way to northern Michigan’s largest community, Traverse City. Visit bookstores, delis, or wineries as you wind down from two intense days for riding.
Traverse City Rides & PARTY! - Aug 10
We close out the tour with a party in Traverse City! Locals are invited to join in for single-day ride options including Old Mission Peninsula, Suttons Bay, and Vasa single-track MTB, followed by a grand celebration with live music, tasty beverages, and good times.
