Follow the great shorelines of Michigan’s lower peninsula, with a layover in Mackinaw City, visits to Mackinac Island and a big party at the end in Traverse City! All proceeds of this bicycling tour support the League of Michigan Bicyclists.

Please note final route files with exact GPS routes will be sent out one week prior to the event.
The 37th Annual Shoreline Tour
Embark on a week-long adventure up and around the tip of the mitten! Departing from Alpena and passing through Mackinaw City on the way to Traverse City, you’ll get the best of two Great Lakes as Shoreline 2024 takes you along the coasts of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Peaceful waters, solitary lighthouses, quiet forests and beaches, and plenty of fudge await you on a bicycling tour of northern Michigan’s finest jewels.

Something For Everyone!
You can ride any bicycle in good mechanical condition on Shoreline. This includes trikes, recumbents, tandems, unicycles, and e-bikes. The standard route is designed to accommodate road bikes. Mountain, hybrid, cyclocross, and gravel bikes will have a blast on the routes. If you are using a standard road bike or touring bike, consider fitting wider tires for comfort. All main routes on Shoreline this year are paved.

Brian Lee Fritz - Artist Statement
For Shoreline this year, I wanted to highlight the iconic Mackinac Bridge. It’s one thing to know that a bridge big enough to connect the lower and upper peninsulas exists, it’s quite another to actually see it. I’ve been up to it a couple times on a bike and the scale is just unreal. The waves in the background represent the wind across the straights and that subtle sway you might feel as you drive across. Wave hello as you ride past around the midpoint of the Shoreline tour this year.
